New Feature Added – Music Samples for Reviews

[audio:fanfare.mp3]

While most people could have told me that adding this new feature was such a blindingly obvious one that should have done from the beginning, the amount of work required to do so served as an excellent reason for me to put it off. But alas, I’ve come to the realization that OST reviews are useless without sample tracks for people to actually listen to so that they actually have a clue as to what I’m talking about when I’m writing these reviews. Not many people actually discuss soundtracks on any level, so I’m hoping at least to get people to generate some sort of dialog about whether they thought a particular track or album was good or bad by having solid examples that people can actually point to.

Naturally, only the soundtracks and vocal collections will actually have the sample tracks and even then, I’ll only put up at most five excerpts per soundtrack with a minimum of three excerpts. The OP/ED albums will continue to have that youtube link at the bottom since a major part of what makes OP/EDs so enjoyable are the accompanying animation sequences.

In any event, samples have been loaded for the following soundtracks below, which can be found at the bottom of their respective posts. Please take a visit back and listen to what I’m talking about whenever I praise or pan a certain track. If there is a track that isn’t working or you can spot some errors, then please let me know.

Updated Posts:

At this point, I feel that I’m ready to expand the blog further, which means that I’m going to be looking for people who are enthusiastic about anime music and are capable of writing reviews that are similar to what I’ve put forth so far. If you’re interested in helping me in this endeavor, please comment here and send me an email at webmaster[ATSIGN]animeinstrumentality[DOT]net with a sample review.

Anime Instrumentality's Founder and Editor-in-Chief. As you can probably guess, I'm a big anime music junkie with a special love for composers who've put out some beautiful melodies to accompany some of my favorite anime series. I tend to gravitate towards music in the classical style with Joe Hisaishi and Yoko Kanno being a few of my favorite composers, but I've come to appreciate jazz and rock as anime music has widened my tastes.

Another suggestion here is to do something about the captcha. At times it gives me this weird shit that I cannot figure out on sight, so you might want to try another type of captcha.

Not really interested in doing serious reviews though lol, but there might be others. Hope you find them soon.

Ah, samples. This blog keeps getting better. I have to commend your choice of the FF6 fanfare in this post. I’d offer to write the occasional review for you if I could review albums an eighth as well as you can, but I’m fairly certain I can’t. I’ve never really written about music, anyway.

As to the captcha, I’ve found that the default Akismet plugin works well enough on its own, and saves everyone a bit of trouble.

All right, given that I’d like to be able to get as much feedback as possible in a manner such that visitors don’t have to jump through hoops just to comment, I’ve disabled the captcha. Hopefully we’ll see more comments as a result of this and that Akismet is able to keep out the spam.

Also, I’ve made attempts at writing about music before, but this is really my first serious shot at doing so. Glad that you like what’s been written so far though and hopefully, I can continually improve with more practice at this.

    Thanks, you two!
