Anime Music on the AIRS Ep. 7 – Summer Music

qwerqcv
In our bid to have our Anime Music on the AIRS radio show stay seasonally relevant, we turn to anime music that touches upon the themes that we so closely associate with summer: the warm days, the sound of waves pelting the shore relentlessly, the laziness that hot weather seemingly brings, and, of course, the friendships that become all the tighter as a result of shared memories. Because of the theme, the selections might be a bit more uniform, but we hope you enjoy this recording and that you’re able to relax to it.

Apologies for being a week late since I was off traveling around, but now that I’m back, the schedule should be back to normal.

So now that we’re back to normal, we’ll look to push out another episode next week! Two weeks of AIRS can’t be a bad thing, so feel free to start requesting tracks to be played in future shows and we’ll get in as many as we can! To continue with the concept of summer, we’ll focus on music that evokes a feeling as though you’re traveling.

Also, if you have other themes you’d like me to place on the docket, feel free to throw your suggestions our way.

As always, if you enjoy these video and would like to help us out, consider contributing to our Patreon campaign. With your support, we’ll be able to increase our output even more and expand our reach in ways that are outside our capabilities at the moment.

Anime Instrumentality's Founder and Editor-in-Chief. As you can probably guess, I'm a big anime music junkie with a special love for composers who've put out some beautiful melodies to accompany some of my favorite anime series. I tend to gravitate towards music in the classical style with Joe Hisaishi and Yoko Kanno being a few of my favorite composers, but I've come to appreciate jazz and rock as anime music has widened my tastes.

This was perfect for the blazing inferno we got today in Paris — 40°C is way too hot for me, espeecially during commute! And hey, I finally manage to listen to one of those episodes, they’ve been sitting on my to-hear list for ages! \o/

That Natsume Yujinchou piece is loads of fun, you never quite know what to expect : the tone is — purposefully — off at times, the rhythm is inconsistent but it still manages to convey meaning in that surprisingly aloof way.

Someday’s Dreamers, well, that OST is really great ; I still keep it on my phone and listen to it from time to time, and I’ve been looking for a full version of the opening (Kaze no Hana by HanaHana) for ages, but was never able to find one… The show itself is one I remember very fondly. Gotta watch it again sometime!

Thanks and glad you enjoyed it! Makoto Yoshimori’s habits are always wonderfully creative and vexing at times too, but a pleasure to listen to because of that. And Someday’s Dreamers is a perennial favorite around here too since the music is simple but effective and, more importantly, very enjoyable!
