Anime Music on the AIRS Ep. 12 – Epic Anime Music

The anime scene is no stranger to the epic moments that keep us riveted and invested in what the show delivers upon. So in the 12th episode of Anime Music on the AIRS we wanted to showcase epic anime music from the traditional definition of an epic: a narrative featuring larger than life characters and a broadening scope over time and space. But in addition to all that, we also wanted to feature pieces that played during epic moments, where the action rains down in all its glory to be unforgettable! Come give the music a listen!

Our first foray into Mixcloud has been a success (follow us for updates!). If you’d prefer to user the links or the stream posted below, feel free to do so as well.

The sky is getting colder and the holidays are coming along nicely too. So let’s shoot for music that reminds you of winter, or the holidays. Anime Instrumentality's Founder and Editor-in-Chief. As you can probably guess, I'm a big anime music junkie with a special love for composers who've put out some beautiful melodies to accompany some of my favorite anime series. I tend to gravitate towards music in the classical style with Joe Hisaishi and Yoko Kanno being a few of my favorite composers, but I've come to appreciate jazz and rock as anime music has widened my tastes.

Yoko Kanno wasn’t involved in composing the UBW soundtrack; it was actually composed by Fukasawa Hideyuki.

Otherwise, this is a nice selection, it even includes the Gunbaster March, one of the most epic compositions of all time!

As for winter-y music, Zetsubou from Princess Kaguya comes to mind, and also Atatakai Yuki Keshiki from Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou.

And thanks for the suggestions. I can definitely use at least one of those!
