Ever Thought About Traveling to Japan? Help Out the Japanese Tourism Agency Through This Survey!
If there’s one thing I keep telling people about my grad school experience, it’s that the best part about it is being able to work on a variety of interesting projects, ranging from case competitions to consulting projects on behalf of an organization.
This post is more about the latter. One activity that my grad program requires everyone to take part in is called PRIME, where students take a trip to a country on the Pacific Rim, be it China, Taiwan, South Korea, Latin America, or Japan. Given my interests, it’s not too hard to guess at which destination I opted to go to.
It’s not all fun and games though (but there is fun, possibly games); part of the trip involves taking on a consulting project for a company in the destination country. For example, classmates who travel to South Korea might be working on a problem Samsung is having. My group’s particular project is with the Japanese Tourism Agency where we’ll hope to strengthen Japan’s image as a tourist destination abroad.
But for that, we’ll need some data! My group has created a survey that we hope will give the JTA an idea of what they should focus on. If you get a chance, please do take the time to respond to it. We could use as much information as we can. The survey can be found here: https://usc.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0VNRTwIEAI7GecQ.
Thanks ahead of time!
The survey didn’t include my age range (-:… could also probably have said Australasia or Oceania for continent so that the people in New Zealand are included.
I really should talk to the guy who created the poll to adjust that. We’re leaving out a pretty big demographic otherwise >.>
Also 0 – 18, but that’s probably irrelevant to the government!
P.S. Hahahahaha, Pacific Rim -> P Rim (e) -> PRIME
(then again, CTSKLAJ doesn’t have the same ring to it…)
Filled it in. I like how you chose a very casual approach with the answers; (Like the option: Stop it, I’m not going to Japan. Ever. Period.) Was this casual approach a conscious decision? Although I love it, not everyone can appreciate it 😉
@Dave
Thanks! I think one of the group members who wrote that up has a good sense of humor and we felt it was funny enough to keep. Also helps makes this survey feel a little more human than the marketing surveys most people seem to be bombarded by. ;D

I got bit by the age question as well. Also your list of biggest concerns didn’t include mine: inability to eat vegetarian. I wouldn’t go to Japan, because I don’t want to have to eat turtles or crabs or whatever. Even breakfast seems to involve eating fish.
@Joojoobees
Interesting point, one that I shall relay to my group members. Thanks for that interesting tidbit about a concern that I certainly didn’t think of (our prof did say that there are vegetarian options for people who want it).
There are some folk that I know in the Australia Japan Association of South Australia
http://www.ajaofsa.asn.au/ that are vegetarian and travel to Japan a lot, so it is possible.
