Upcoming Anime Expo Panel – A Survey of Yuki Kajiura’s Music

Those of you who frequent this site may have noticed that I’ve stayed fairly quiet this month, and that’s because most of my time has been spent putting my upcoming presentation together for Anime Expo. Everyone else who I plan to meet up with has already made mention of my panel; I seem to be the only one who hasn’t even taken the time to publicize his own event!

So without further ado, for those of you who are going to Anime Expo and are very much interested in anime music, I’ll be doing a presentation that focuses entirely on Yuki Kajiura’s music. Details for the event are as follows:

Date: July 03, 2011
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: LACC 515A (shown as LP 3)

That Kalafina ended up coming to this year’s rendition of Anime Expo and will be performing a live concert the day before was a stroke of good fortune (I submitted the idea for this panel long before I knew they’d show up as guests!), so with luck, those who are interested in Kalafina and attended the sold-out (!!!) concert will show up for this panel.

As you can probably guess from the post title, this is going to be more of a broad overview than anything else, but I’m really excited to see how this one will go and hoping that all attendees (oldies and newbies) will get something out of it. In a sense, this Kajiura presentation is a bit of a litmus test to see how well-received a discussion/presentation of anime music beyond the OP/ED themes will fly towards a more general audience and if it turns out well, you can definitely expect more from me in the future.

Wish me luck, and I hope to see all of you there!

Anime Instrumentality's Founder and Editor-in-Chief. As you can probably guess, I'm a big anime music junkie with a special love for composers who've put out some beautiful melodies to accompany some of my favorite anime series. I tend to gravitate towards music in the classical style with Joe Hisaishi and Yoko Kanno being a few of my favorite composers, but I've come to appreciate jazz and rock as anime music has widened my tastes.

I wish I could come to this but something tells me I won’t: one of the bigger English visual novel dev groups is having a panel followed by a meetup at pretty much the same time and I really want to meet them since I need to get more involved with that community. I hope someone records this though, I don’t doubt that it’ll be worth watching. Good luck!

(And on a related note, hopefully we get to meet at one of the aniblogger meetups :3 We have four NHRV people in attendance, that’s gotta be enough to do something awesome)

It will turn out well and we will see more in the future!

That’s great that you’ll be doing your own panel ^^ I should be able to come if nothing comes up. I don’t know much about Yuki Kajiura other than the fact that I like her music (especially in Noir) so I’m sure I’ll learn something.

Such an event will (hopefully) see a video recording! Yeah, I do plan to record this and put it up on youtube or something.

Too much work makes zzero a dull boy. And I’m ready to be dull this early!

Definitely! As much as I’m looking forward to doing things at the con, I’m looking forward to meeting people even more. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet up, talk shop, and most importantly, put a face to that username.

    Your waifu deserves nothing less!

If this works, I already have an inkling for how the next year’s presentation will shape up. I will look to clinch this one first and make it a memorable experience.

That means I can’t fail now! Time to grab the event by the reins and impose my will upon it.

Especially her Kalafina stuff. Hope that my presentation will put them on your radar.

Aren’t you overdue for attending a convention? But will throw that video recording and you can vicariously experience it. It’s the next best thing!

Due to unforseen circumstances I was not able to attend. Hope the panel was a resounding success!

I wouldn’t say it was a resounding success, but there was definitely a lot of good and a lot of things to build on for next year since I kinda know what to look out for! I’ll put up a video recording at some point this coming week.
